Chickasaw National Park, OK

Hey Everyone -

My husband and I are members of this group - but I don't know what happened to the events that used to be planned!? What happened to the leader - Steven Hope?

So, my husband, Graham, and I just returned from Chickasaw and had a blast with our friends! We went out there on Thursday and spent the night together, then we had another couple join us on Friday, and then another one came up on Saturday evening. This was our first three-day camping trip and we loved it. One day is never enough! The park is free for day use, and we camped at a non-utility for $12 a day! They have extensive trails and you even have the choice of camping on a 'river' (they call it a stream) or on the lake. We choose the river and it was amazing -- absolutely beautiful. We choose campsite 17, although we wanted campsite 26, but it was taken! The best part about Chickasaw is it's only about 1 hour away from Denton, where we live. We just simply spent our time biking, kayaking, and walking the trails -- this was the BEST camping trip my husband and I have ever had.

Another reason it was so great was we really saved up this trip to buy everything that we could need for camping... to clarify - we finally have everything already packed away for our next trip -- all we need is food and toiletries (we don't have to take anything out of our kitchen)!

So, we would really love to set up a trip back to Chickasaw, with other couples, when it gets a little warmer. Please let us know if you are interested in going! We would really love to meet other couples that love being outdoors like we do! The days that we will be going again will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday - if this works for you.
